What Do Rocking Chairs & Worry Have in Common?

Anyone who knows me knows that I am an Educator and Storyteller. Throughout my lifetime, I have found that people retain information when they can attach a story to it. Quotes work similarly: They challenge you to "Connect the dots," with something that usually captures your attention, piques your interest, or sparks your curiosity.

One of my favorite quoters is Erma Bombeck. Some of her quotes are thought-provoking, while others are "light-hearted," and just simply make you laugh.

Many people who seek counseling are "Worried" about something. Worrying starts to consume their every thought, until it consumes their life. It becomes this dark cloud that hovers over their existence, which often leads to anxiety and depression. It keeps people from seeking help, and truly should be the "clue" that help is needed.

When I read this quote by Mrs. Bombeck, I decided I'd use it in my practice moving forward: "Worry is like a ROCKING CHAIR: it gives you something to do but never gets you anywhere."

Do not allow "Un-processed Worry" to give birth to depression and anxiety. Let us tackle it together and once and for all, be done with it!!!
